Why Executive Job Seekers Should Have A Seek Profile

If you live in Australia then you will more than likely be aware that www.seek.com.au is the leading digital job board, attracting more job advertisements and more candidates than any other site. What you may not be aware of is that SEEK allows job seekers to create a profile on their site to which you can allow recruiters and employers to view (if you so choose to).

Having a SEEK Profile has previously been more associated with entry level and junior candidates but due to its increased use from employers and recruiters, executive and senior candidates should certainly consider creating a profile.

Recruiters and employers are increasing their use of SEEK Profile searching

Employers and recruitment agencies will continue to advertise roles on job boards and on other mediums, but the use of databases, talent pools and “ready to go” candidates continues to increase. Unlike LinkedIn, SEEK Profiles are created when people are looking for work and have some level of interest when it comes to hearing about opportunities. What draws recruiters to SEEK Profiles is that they are often more likely to get a response from a job seeker than on LinkedIn.

Recruitment methodology continues to evolve and when recruiting for Executive and Senior positions a role will not always be advertised, but SEEK Profiles will still regularly be searched. Having a profile increases your chances of being found.

Creating a profile is easy

You can enter your details slowly if you like, or you can simply upload your resume and then edit where need be. You can add Education, Licenses & Certifications and Skills in addition to your employment history.
Better still, you can list what you are looking for in your next role – salary expectation, preferred location and work type as well as your availability.

You can choose your visibility

Standard – Employers can view my Profile and resume and can contact me directly via SEEK.
Limited – Employers can view my Profile, but not my resume and can only contact me via SEEK.
Hidden – Employers cannot search for me. My Profile can only be seen by employers as part of my applications.

Indicate your “approachability”

There is a box you can check which shows employers and recruiters how “approachable” you are. This is based off of your activity on the site (high activity = approachable, low activity = less approachable). You can choose to have this on your profile, or you can simply turn it off.

Set and forget

SEEK Profile is not a social media platform, so it doesn’t need regular updates. Once you’ve created your profile and made all the selections required you can simply leave the platform and check back in when it suits you.

In 2021 and beyond it is important as a candidate to know where employers and recruiters are going to find and view candidates. As SEEK say on their registration page, “Be seen with a SEEK Profile”
